The Lexington Children’s Theater has a longstanding history in this town. From its roots that reach back as far as 1938 with its first performance in ’39 of “Noah’s Flood”, the Lexington Children’s Theater is in an exciting era. What should the Lexington community be most excited about? The upcoming production of “Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type” – a stage adaptation of Doreen Cronin’s children’s book by the same name.

God's Pantry Food Bank, Feeding Local Families

During the spring semester at UK a group of student from an undergraduate sociology class have been learning the ins and outs of God’s Pantry Food Bank.

Several different aspects were taken on through this project; history, purpose, volunteers, and mission of the organization. During last Wednesday’s presentation the students shared their views and experiences with this organization.

Seedleaf-Nourishing the Local Community

Seedleaf began as a gift when an area landowner approached a small community, and offered the use of land to grow food. The area of land was off of Clay’s Mill Road that was ploughed, installed and maintained by a group of volunteers. This quarter acre garden grows vegetables and flowers and at the end of the season it was clear that more food could be grown with a little more structure.

Kentucky Horse Park Foundation, A Foundation Unlike Any Other

The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation (KHPF) was founded in 1985 by Nina Bonnie whose goal was to help raise private support for the Horse Park. Bonnie had been active in and a supporter of the Kentucky Horse Park Commission since its creation in 1978. Seeing the need to improve and expand the Horse Park she took it into her own hands and founded the KHPF; its main purpose being to raise money to help improve and expand the Horse Park.

The acronym could be misleading. LYSA stands for Lexington Youth Soccer Association, but the organization has much more to offer central Kentucky than just a sport for the youth.
